4月27日に、ニュージーランド支部のメンバーはファンガヌイで行われた地方主催の空手大会に参加し、語学留学で当地に滞在中の第13回世界大会初代型チャンピオンの田中利奈選手が応援に駆けつけてくれました。
田中選手は、型と組手の出場選手のセコンドについてくれた上、五十四歩の演武を披露し、副審も務めていただきました。ニュージーランド支部チームは非常に優秀で、型と組手両方で1位を複数獲った他、敢闘賞も受賞しました。
大会で手厚いサポートをしてくださった田中選手は、語学留学先のパーマストンノースに戻り、現地での楽しいひとときの写真を送ってくれました。

On Saturday, 27 April, competitors from Shinkyokushinkai New Zealand participated in a regional tournament in Whanganui, New Zealand. They received exceptional support from the 13th World Tournament Shinkyokushinkai Women’s Kata Champion, Rina Tanaka.
Throughout the event, Rina provided expert kata guidance to members of Shinkyokushinkai New Zealand and offered tatami support for both Kata and Kumite competitors. She also showcased a Kata demonstration of Sushiho and served as a corner judge. The Shinkyokushinkai New Zealand team excelled, securing several gold medals and first place trophies in Kata and Kumite, as well as receiving the award for the most spirited fighter.
On the return trip to IPU in Palmerston North, where Rina Tanaka is studying English, she enjoyed a brief photo opportunity with some ‘locals’.
