On October 23, WKO Shinkyokushinkai Gauteng provincial executive committee (PEC) and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Karate club hosted the first kata training event for Gauteng province. The training was attended by over 100 karatekas, under strict COVID-19 precautions and regulation protocols for sporting events such as signing a registry, taking of temperature and regular hand sanitizing and was an outdoor training for better ventilation and space to conduct proper kata movements. This was an open event for Gauteng Province clubs/dojos and other interested provinces were welcome. Shihan Mashinini also focused on building endurance and well-balanced mind and body, through training in kata and fighting techniques.
The training session was honoured to be graced with the presence of Shihan Isaac Mashinini and other dojos from outside Gauteng province such as the Klerksdorp team from North West Province. The kata training was opened by the organizers and the host Sensei Humbulani Mphuma (Chairperson: WKO Shinkyokushinkai Gauteng PEC, 3rd dan), Sempai Costa Mudekereza (Chairperson: TUT Pretoria campus karate club) and Kohai Sihle Gqadu (Secretary: WKO Shinkyokushinkai Gauteng PEC). Among the key guests were Shihan Isaac Mashinini (7th dan), Sensei Thomas Mayekani (3rd dan) and Sensei Khehla Jele (4th dan).
