カナダ支部は、2025年9月27日、ケベック州ラヴァルで試割による小児がんチャリティを目的とした試割イベント「テスト・ユア・マイト！」を開催しました。
大会形式で行われた試割りイベントには、子どもから大人まで、男女別の10部門に44名の様々なレベルの新極真空手家たちが参加し、気合の入った試割りの腕前を披露しました。
イベントの最後は、テオドール・カシマティス先生によるダイナミックなコンクリートブロック割りの演武で締め括られ、観客を圧倒しました。
今年で6回目となるイベントは、回を追う毎に評判が高まり参加者も増えています。今年は地元企業、地区コミュニティ、地元の道場や個人からの寄付により、カナダがん協会の小児がん研究支援のため総額7,500カナダドルの募金を集めました。
主催のリッチィ道場長は、このようなイベントで、若い世代が、地域に貢献し、サポートが必要な人のために行動する意識を高めたい、と語りました。

Canada Branch Fundraising Tameshiwari Event “Test your might!”

On September 27th, 2025, Fundraising Charity Tameshiwari Event for childhood cancer “Test your might!” took place in Laval.
The spirit of Shinyokushin Karate met the power of community at the 6th annual Karate Board Breaking Fundraiser, organized by David Ricci, in support of the Canadian Cancer Society’s pediatric cancer research. With 44 passionate board breakers competing across 10 categories—from children to adults, women and men—the event raised an inspiring $7,500 CAD, proving that every strike can make a difference.
The fundraiser took the form of a high-energy board breaking competition, where Kyokushin martial artists of all ages and skill levels came together to fight childhood cancer one board at a time. The event emphasized inclusivity and empowerment, with a strong encouragement for women to participate and showcase their strength.
This year’s Wonder Woman 18+ title was awarded to Angela Kosciuk of Sutogure Dojo in Laval, whose performance combined precision and determination. The Masters Trophy for Male Advanced went to Alexandru Ganea of Shinkyokushinkai Ottawa Dojo, whose technique and intensity left a lasting impression.
The event was proudly overseen by two of Canada’s most respected referees: Shihan Luciano Paparella and Sensei Alain Dagenais, both honored to support the cause.
Corporate support played a vital role in the campaign’s success, with generous donations from Oldcastle APG, Kass Electrique, La Moisson Supermarché Santé and contributions from local dojos and individual donors. Their support helped fuel the momentum of this community-based initiative, now in its sixth edition.
The event concluded with a spectacular concrete breaking demonstration by Senseï Theodore Kassimatis of Greenfield Park Dojo. Known for his signature displays of strength and control, Sensei Kassimatis delivered a powerful finale that left the audience in awe and brought the event to a dramatic close.
“This event is more than just a competition of strength—it’s about community, compassion, and commitment,” said David Ricci, the event organizer. “We’re helping inspire the next generation to grow up with purpose—doing good in their communities and standing up for those who need support.”
With each edition, the fundraiser continues to grow in impact and participation, proving that when Kyokushin martial artists come together, they can break barriers far beyond the dojo.
