Poland Basiak Branch seminar

During two days in August of 2013 – 24th and 25th – for the members of Tomasz Basiak Shinkyokushinkai Team (WKO Tomasz Basiak Branch) and for karatekas from other WKO Branches was the time they had an opportunity to learn different ways of training, as well as combinations and fighting tactics according to the Swedish and Hungarian Karate School.

At the invitation of sensei Tomasz Basiak, in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, sensei Jimmie Collin and shihan Mangus Hanssen of Sweden shared their knowledge to the 47 participants by conducting classes during the first day of the seminar (the Swedish day). Our guests demonstrated many useful combinations in kumite, especially kakato geri and mawashi geri techniques. Moreover they paid attention to movements and keeping the right distance during fights. The Swedish day featured three trainings which were devoted to the kumite – working on the mitts, combinations and fighting itself.

The second day was dominated by the Hungarian team: sensei Csenge Szepesi and shihan Zoltan Polacsek. The first training was conducted by this year European Champion sensei Csenge. She focused on the elements related to kicks such as mawashi geri jodan and uchi hisoku geri. Sensei Csenge pointed at the right hip movement and proper body position when performing the abovementioned kicking techniques.

Shihan Zoltan Polacsek conducted the second training session. The main points of shihan’s lesson included the tradition aspects of Kyokushin Karate. He demonstrated many methods of strengthening and hardening our body. Our guest also showed us lots of different exercises which he uses to prepare competitors to fights. What is more, participants of the seminar were able to learn interesting methods to weaken of the opponent, in particular by attacking vulnerable spots of their body.

It is worth mentioning that our seminar was attended by the representatives of the following Shinkyokushinkai dojos from Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Warszawa, Wałbrzych, Katowice, Ełk, Ostrołęka, Tarnowskie Góry, Łódź and Radzymin. The guests who took part in the event organised by sensei Tomasz Basiak included also sensei Jacek Baranowski (BC) from Wałbrzych, Chairman of Polish Shinkyokushinkai Organisation and shihan Remigiusz Kariński (CR and BR) of Ełk. The welcoming dinner was attended by shihan Bogdan Jeremicz (BC), sensei Artur Wilento (BC) and sensei Dariusz Jasiakiewicz who represented Polish Kyokushin Karate Federation.

Our guests from Sweden and Hungary had the opportunity to see Warsaw and its tourist attractions including the Old Town and The Park of the water fountains. They also took photographs to commemorate their stay in our country.

In conclusion it is worth saying that the seminars which are organized in Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Warsaw by Tomasz Basiak Shinkyokushinkai Team, with top European Shinkyokushinkai instructors, have become a tradition in Mazovia region and even in the scale of the entire country.

See you next time!
