2026年7月、WKOカナダのオタワ道場（ダヴィー・リッチィ支部管轄、アレクサンドル・ガネア師範主宰）所属のジュランヌ・ポワッサンさんは、中国・北京の朝陽道場を訪問し、ユー・ヤン支部長およびスーツォン・チェン先輩のご指導のもとで稽古を行う機会に恵まれました。
当初は単なる道場訪問の予定でしたが、この経験は、自分が世界的な空手組織の一員であることの意味を改めて実感する、大変意義深いものとなりました。
文化や言語がまったく異なる仲間たちとともに稽古をする中で、ジュランヌさんは武道には言葉を超えた共通の「言語」があることを体感しました。
言葉の壁があるにもかかわらず、指導者の皆さんは実に温かく迎え入れ、自分たちの門下生と変わらないように丁寧な指導や励まし、助言をしてくださいました。
このような、自然で心からの受け入れの姿勢は、WKOが築き上げてきた世界的なコミュニティの強さを物語っています。
技術面でも、多くの学びがありました。稽古では立ち方、基本、型、そして特に組手の技術に重点が置かれていました。
北京支部の組手に対するアプローチは、とても印象的でした。基本動作はゆったりとしたテンポで行われる一方、突きや蹴りは鋭く力強く、新極真の組手に対する異なるリズムや解釈を感じさせるものでした。
こうした違いを見学し、実際に体験することで、空手に対する理解はさらに深まり、地域ごとの稽古方法の違いが、WKO全体をより豊かなものにしていることを実感しました。
ジュランヌさんにとって、この交流は旅の思い出の一つにとどまるものではありませんでした。
それは極真空手における自己成長の大きな契機となり、上達とは単により厳しく稽古することだけではなく、広い心で学び続けることによっても実現するのだということを改めて教えてくれました。
この経験は、WKOという世界的組織の本質を体現しています。世界中どこへ行っても、会員は自分の「帰る場所」と感じられる道場に出会うことができます。
国際交流は、技術を高め、視野を広げ、そして世界中の新極真ファミリーへの理解と感謝をより深いものにしてくれます。
国境や文化、言語の違いを越えて共に稽古することで、私たちはこれからも共に成長し続けていきます。
WKO Canada x China International Exchange in Shinkyokushin: A Journey to Chaoyang, Beijing

In July 2026, WKO CANADA member, Julanne Poissant, from the Shinkyokushinkai Ottawa Dojo under Alexandru Ganea of the David Ricci Branch, had the opportunity to train at Chaoyang Dojo in Beijing under the guidance of Branch Chief Sensei Yu Yang and Senpai Sicong Chen.
What began as a simple visit quickly became a meaningful reminder of what it means to belong to a global karate organization.
Training alongside students from a completely different cultural and linguistic background, Julanne experienced the unspoken language of budo.
Despite communication barriers, the instructors welcomed her with genuine warmth, offering corrections, encouragement, and guidance as if she were one of their own students.
This sense of inclusion, immediate and sincere, reflects the strength of WKO’s worldwide community.
The technical experience was equally eye-opening. Sessions focused on stances, kihon, kata, and especially fighting techniques.
The Beijing Branch’s approach to kumite surprised her: slower tempo basics paired with sharp, powerful strikes that revealed a different rhythm and interpretation of Shinkyokushin fighting.
Observing and practicing these variations expanded her understanding of the art and showed how regional training styles enrich the broader WKO ecosystem.
For Julanne, this exchange was more than a highlight of her travels.
It became a catalyst for personal growth in Kyokushin karate, a reminder that improvement comes not only from training harder, but from learning openly.
Her experience reflects the essence of WKO, a global organization where members can travel anywhere in the world and find a dojo that feels like home.
International exchange strengthens technique, broadens perspective, and deepens appreciation for the worldwide Shinkyokushin family.
Through shared training, we continue to grow together across borders, cultures, and languages.
